The Good

  • Emulation
  • Processing
  • Battery
  • Keyboard
  • Easy Modification

The Bad

  • Screen Size

Emulation: Despite having an integrated graphics processor, the Acer Aspire e5-471-52TW is capable of rendering extremely effectively. While it won’t be up to snuff when it comes to playing modern PC games, its powerful Intel Core i5 CPU makes this a terrific emulating machine.
Processing: This laptop’s CPU is threaded to run like a quad-core processor. Despite its mid-range implications on the Intel CPU spectrum, this is a powerful processor compatible with almost every modern game.
Battery: This laptop features a battery that can last around four hours during high performance activity such as gaming, six to seven hours during normal use and close to a full day with the wifi turned off.
Keyboard: Despite the fact it’s lacking a numerical keypad, the solid chiclet-style keys on this laptop are satisfying to type on and avoid the common laptop pitfall of feeling too “mushy.”
Easy Modification: The initial specs of this machine aren’t particularly impressive, but they make a great base for further upgrades. The addition of a solid state drive or SSD and an alternative OS, such as Linux, can make this a great gaming server or Steam Machine. Plus, there’s room for more memory!
NoMark
Screen Size: Most gaming laptops in this price range have a screen size of about 15 inches. This machine has a smaller display of 13 inches, providing a less immersive gaming experience. Plugging in an external monitor or TV is recommended.
