The Good

  • Versatile
  • Construction
  • Numpad
  • Battery & Memory

The Bad

  • Processor

Versatile: While the starting components of the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E555 are great for the price, the true potential of this unit can be brought out with some upgrades. The optical drive can be swapped out with another hard disk or solid state drive, an additional 4 gigabytes or GB of RAM can be inserted and it can even handle being upgraded to Windows 10.
Construction: ThinkPads are well-known for their superior laptop design, functional keyboard and trademark red trackball. This is a laptop made with high-quality components tested for durability.
Numpad: It’s rare to find a separate numerical pad on the keyboard of a laptop, but it can be very functional in space simulators or games like Mechwarrior.
Battery & Memory: Users can expect more than six hours of battery life with this laptop. In addition, it comes stock with a terabyte of internal storage.
NoMark
Processor: The integrated AMD CPU performs better than most Intel integrated cards, but it’s still nothing to write home about. Processor-intensive programs like Google Chrome tend to have issues running on this machine.

About Thomas J.

Thomas J. grew up surrounded by electronics—apparently quite a bit of static rubbed off on him. Whether it’s the latest phones or the loudest speakers, he’s got quite an opinion on which model is the best.
