Screen Clarity: The Lowrance Mark-5x displays images in black and white, but its 16-level gray scale more than makes up for the lack of color. Featuring 480×480 screen resolution, the five-inch LCD shows depth, temperature and fish location with remarkable detail and accuracy.
User-Friendly: From the moment it turns on, this model starts collecting data and finding fish with its automatic mode. It also includes an advanced user mode, which adjusts the settings to the current water conditions.
Great For Shallow Water: Higher frequencies, like the 200 kHz signals produced by the Mark-5x’s transducer, penetrate shallow water more efficiently than lower frequencies. If you like to fish on smaller lakes and rivers, this is the model for you.
Just The Basics: This model lacks the high-end features most other fish finders on the market have. It doesn’t support GPS, can’t send sonar in multiple directions and is limited in its power and range. The Mark-5x is better suited for casual anglers.
Not Waterproof: Some websites claim this model is waterproof, but many customers say the Mark-5x isn’t even water-resistant. Several customers experienced problems with this fish finder after it got wet for the very first time.
